It started 5 September in Copenhagen and finished 26 October in Hamburg – Umeå went European tour showing what the city of Umeå and its surrounding region in northern Sweden have to offer. A climate neutral event
VisitSweden is working to reduce our climate impact. We chose to make the Caught by Umeå Tour a climate neutral event. Our aim was to lower the events climate impact as much as possible. The events emissions was offset through the Gold Standard certified carbon offset project Ugastoves* in Uganda to which a donation of approximately 100 stoves will be made.
We encouraged all of our participants to choose a mode of transport with as low climate impact as possible.
*VisitSweden supports the Gold Standard certified project Ugastoves in Uganda. The project distributes new fuel-efficient cooking stoves to households. Fuel use from increasingly scarce firewood is a growing problem in the Uganda. In order to address this problem, an emission reduction project has been set up to distribute modern, fuel-efficient cooking stoves to private households at reduced prices. The project also addresses a number of socio-economic issues for example reduced fuel spending and improved indoor and outdoor air quality.
